Wellington Shines Bright at the 2025 Christmas Light Switch-On
On Saturday 29 November, Wellington’s Market Square was filled with festive cheer as families, friends, and residents came together for a full day of Christmas celebrations. The atmosphere was lively from morning to evening, with entertainment, activities, and seasonal fun leading up to one of the town’s most cherished traditions — the annual Christmas light switch-on.
This year’s display was especially dazzling. Following a significant investment by Wellington Town Council into a brand-new festive lighting scheme, the upgraded decorations lit up the town with colour, warmth, and sparkle. The transformation did not go unnoticed, with visitors commenting on how magical the market square looked.
As the crowd gathered and excitement built, Mayor Cllr Reg Snell took to the stage to perform the honours. When the lights flicked on, the reaction was immediate — a wave of joy, applause, and festive spirit rippled through the square.
The event marked a heart-warming start to the Christmas season, celebrating community, togetherness, and the vibrant spirit of Wellington.
