Lace up your walking boots and join the Wellington Walking Festival 2026, taking place from Monday 14 September to Sunday 20 September.

This year’s festival will once again offer a fantastic programme of walks for all ages and abilities, combining popular favourites with exciting new routes. Whether you’re looking for a gentle themed stroll, a challenging countryside hike or something in between, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The festival will also feature a number of events linked to Heritage Open Days, with this year’s theme, The History of Everyday People, providing the perfect opportunity to explore Wellington’s rich heritage and discover the stories behind the places we walk through every day.
